Epic Eclipse Captures

"The April Eclipse of 2024 was a much-anticipated day in north Texas.  My photo club provided coaching on various settings, tools, and advice for the big event. In fact, one warning in particular was regarding counterbalance on a tripod with the high angle of the sun. This is where I knew that my Platypod eXtreme & Platyball Ergo would excel; and I'm happy to report that it worked wonderfully!"

"I set up my rig on a table with the longer end (of the Platypod eXtreme) pointed the opposite direction. This is how I would normally use my Platypod for better balance. In addition to that, I used a makeshift filter (which I cut out of a polymer solar filter sheet) and fitted that onto my lens. I took a couple of shots with a remote every 10 minutes to capture the various phases for a composite shot.  At totality, I removed the film took a shot about every second to capture the diamond ring as the moon started its exit. After replacing the filter, I continued to shoot the second half to complete the composite."

"I hope that you enjoy the captures as much as I enjoyed taking them. I'm honored to be able to share my story with the Platypod community."
