Gravity Defying Flying Food with Cathy Weatherston
Words and Photos by Cathy Weatherston, A Platypod Pro

"For this food photography shoot, I used skewers to style the sandwich ingredients, making them appear as if they were suspended in mid-air. I set up my Platypod eXtreme with a ballhead for camera stability and used a LumeCube and LumeCube Panel Pro 2.0 affixed on Platypod Goosenecks which I then attached to the Platypod Ultra for some controlled lighting. To enhance the visual effect, I edited the images in Photoshop by selecting each ingredient, using layers, and positioning them to create the illusion that the contents of the sandwich were falling, adding a dynamic, gravity-defying element to the final capture."
"First let me just say... Wow! Being a Wedding and Newborn photographer, this was quite the challenge for me, as I've never dabbled in food photography before—aside from snapping pics on my phone whenever I’m at a restaurant, ha ha!"
"For this shoot, I used my Platypod eXtreme with my Platyball Elite ballhead to hold my camera. To light the scene, I set up two Platypod Goosenecks on my Platypod Ultra, attaching a LumeCube to one side and a LumeCube Panel Pro 2.0 to the other side."
"The best part though, was getting to enjoy the sandwich I made after the shoot!
Really had a blast working on this challenge and I was delighted to take part."
