[I wrote up this description and if it helps, great! But if Riley is doing her own description, let's trash this because I love Riley's voice/style, and this video was really fun, insightful, and entertaining. It is definitely not my plan to overstep. - Respectfully, Larry B]
Kayaking is an adventure with countless appealing characteristics including beautiful locations, sitting at water level, exercise, exploration of nature, and more. As a regular kayaker, and a Platypod Pro photographer, Riley Arthur has been taking pictures and video while kayaking, for quite some time.
After struggling with handheld shaky-cam and trying to shoot videos while paddling and navigating through lily pads and aquatic grasses, Riley came up with a thoughtful collection of Platypod gear that hold her phone camera at just the right height, and keep the camera steady enough to capture video ahead of her kayak, or even capture selfie style video, proving she knows how to paddle and navigate.
Consideration of the camera position was important, but just as important is zero handheld camera shake and the security of a quality mount, as well as the clever use of some Platypod straps to ensure that the gear wouldn't somehow get bumped out of the kayak.
Have a look at the complete setup in Riley's latest video, and you'll even get a peek behind the scenes when she shares how she shot a video of herself shooting a video on her kayak.
