01 | The Dutch Baby with Moose Peterson

"The Dutch Baby is a regular breakie for us. It comes out of the oven full of air from the baking process and once it's out and rests for a bit, begins to deflate letting out a puff of steam in the process. It was a natural choice for me when selecting my subject for the Platypod food challenge. The Z 8 / Z24-120 supported by the Platypod was first set up. The old barn wood was next with an empty skillet put in place. The Profoto A10 with Octa was next and a couple test shots taken. Everything had to be dialed in (as I had less than a minute once the Dutch Baby was removed from the oven). Then there was just the wait of twenty minutes while it baked. A minute prior to removal, everything was turned on and the path cleared from oven to set. The rest, well, was simply delicious!"

02 | Gravity Defying Flying Food with Cathy Weatherston

"For this food photography shoot, I used skewers to style the sandwich ingredients, making them appear as if they were suspended in mid-air. I set up my Platypod eXtreme with a ballhead for camera stability and used a LumeCube and LumeCube Panel Pro 2.0 affixed on Platypod Goosenecks which I then attached to the Platypod Ultra for some controlled lighting. To enhance the visual effect, I edited the images in Photoshop by selecting each ingredient, using layers, and positioning them to create the illusion that the contents of the sandwich were falling, adding a dynamic, gravity-defying element to the final capture."

03 | A Smoked feast for the Senses featuring Matt Suess

"For this fun photo challenge, I decided to cook my 'world-famous' smoked reverse sear boneless ribeye steak."

"I used a beautiful 1.3lb steak along with a variety of colorful potatoes, local mixed carrots, onion, peppers, and of course some local corn on the cob."

"The steak was smoked low-and-slow until the internal temperature reached the mid 80’s. Then I cranked up the heat and fire in my smoker to over 500 degrees to let the flames lick each side of the steak, pulling it at the right moment to leave me with a medium rare cook.”
